Gracie Geikie Joins UCSI University Sarawak

Kuching, 07 August 2009 - Gracie Geikie has joined UCSI University, Sarawak Campus as its Associate Dean of the Faculty of Hospitality, Tourism & Management.  The university, based in Kuching, offers specialization courses and degrees in hospitality, tourism and management. Gracie is also a Director of the UCSI Group’s subsidiary company UCSI Extension Sdn. Bhd. which offers event management, leadership programmes, hospitality and tourism related seminars, conferences and short-term certification courses for specialist fields in hospitality. UCSI Group is also the appointed Blue Ocean Strategy Regional Centre in ten countries.

Gracie’s last stint was as the CEO of Sarawak Tourism Board for four years from 2005 till July this year. With 35 years experience in the hospitality and tourism industry ranging from airline, hotel, resort, tour operations, food & beverage and event management, Gracie will be very involved in developing human capital for the industry. She holds a double Masters in Business Administration with one majoring in tourism and the other in general business administration.

The UCSI University, Sarawak Campus is located at Jalan Tun Jugah, Kuching. The university management board currently in discussions to build its new campus which will cater up to 2000 students. Group President Peter Ng of the UCSI Group, said, ‘Our Sarawak campus aims to be the leading provider of specialist programmes to cater to the government’s development plans for the state. I see tremendous need for our role in assisting towards building ready and available expertise for Sarawak.”
