Volumetric Display Technologies
|
|
Volex is the code name given for UCSI's
Volumetric Display Using LEDs research project conducted by the Centre for
Research Excellence. The RM1.3 million research is partly funded by the
Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) of Malaysia.
The research aims to design and produce a 3 dimensional display apparatus that uses the 'persistence of vision' effect to give viewers the impression of an object with volume. CRE aims to make this technology relatively cheap and introducing it as a consumer electronics with a wide range of applications from advertising to gaming and even industrial and academic purposes. To that effect the research TEAM has earmarked L.E.D.s (Light Emitting Diodes) as the primary source of image display. LEDs are relatively cheap, easy to replace and consume far less power that other conventional display/lighting technologies. The entire research begin on October 2005 and is expected to be completed by October 2007. The research team consist of 3 members and 3 consultants. CRE is looking to adding another research member to the team. DOWNLOAD THE PROJECT INFO-SHEET
