MTSF: Malaysia Toray Science Foundation Grants

Applicants for this grant must be a Malaysian researcher, aged below 40, residing in Malaysia and engaged in a basic fundamental scientific research field excluding mathematics and clinical medicine at a research facility within the country. Recommendations must be submitted by an authorized representative of a scientific or professional institution or a university of which the applicant is a member.

Makna Cancer Research

This is a fund dedicated to the cause of effective research in the area of Cancer. Applications are open to all researchers with a medical specialist degree or PhD from institutions of higher learning or from research institutions (public or private), residing in Malaysia and interested in cancer research.

SAGA Fund

Scientific Advancement Fund Allocation (SAGA) under the Nobel Prize Program - 8th Malaysia Plan, aims to enhance and develop human resource and knowledge in fundamental sciences. The SAGA is highly competitive and aims to consolidate research activities in prioritized areas. This fund is open to all full-time academic staff/scientists of universities, research institutions or colleges (institutes of higher learning) and research laboratories in Malaysia who are employed on a permanent or contractual basis in the Government and private sector.

MOSTI e-Science Fund

The ScienceFund supports R&D projects which can generate new knowledge in strategic basic and applied sciences, and develop new products or processes necessary for further development and commercialisation in specific research clusters (RC). It is also aimed at generating more research capabilities and expertise within the country. The outcome of research under ScienceFund which has commercial potential can be considered for additional funding under the TechnoFund.

U-CIP (University Cradle Investment Programme)

U-CIP aims to work together with Researchers in public and private universities and colleges, as well as the Commercialisation Units of these institutions. The primary aim of U-CIP is to facilitate the transformation of research outputs into marketable products/services, as a first step in the commercialisation roadmap. To this end, U-CIP specifically funds the development of prototypes, proofs of concept and the preparation of business plans, in addition to providing business mentoring and access to later stage investors such as VCs and angels and to Commercialisation Partners, such as corporations, through the Ideas Bank.

Commercialization of R&D Fund

In tandem with the 9MP, the Commercialisation of R&D Fund (CRDF) has been redesigned to provide financial assistance to universities/research institutions and eligible Malaysian companies to undertake full commercialisation. Malaysian Technology Development Corporation Sdn Bhd (MTDC) would provide grants of up to RM 4mn (US$ 1.11mn EUR 0.88mn) for each technology company under the Ninth Malaysia Plan (9MP) against RM 2mn under the Eight and Seventh Malaysia Plans. BIOTECHCORP Seed Fund

To fund seed or start-up costs in setting up biotech companies and to assist towards the development and commercialisation of biotechnology projects and R&D findings of priority and core areas, in particular projects and findings that are central to achieving the objectives of the National Biotechnology Policy.
