Information on Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN) Loan

Eligibility

Applicant must :
  • Be a Malaysian
  • Not be recipients of other loans or scholarships at the same time
  • Have SPM with at least 3 credits
  • Posses other recognised certificates to qualify for a degree programme: STPM, A-Levels, UEC, SAM, AUSMAT, CPU, CIMP, UCSI University Foundation, Local Matriculation or Recognised Diploma
  • Enrol in an IPTS that offers a full-time degree or diploma course that is approved by MQA and JPS
Other Criteria :
  • For students applying for a second time, loans extended earlier by PTPTN must be fully settled prior to a fresh application
  • Balance of study upon application must not be less than 1 year
  • Savings in SSPN (Skim Simpanan Pendidikan Nasional) has to be made starting from 1 January 2008

PTPTN Form

The form can be purchased from the UCSI University Counselling Centre at a cost of RM5. The PTPTN application form will be available on sale during the following months only:

Application and Submission of Documents

Please use 2B pencil only when filling up the application form. The PTPTN form must be completed and attached with certified documents as stated below:
  • Photocopy of Identity Card
  • Letter of Acceptance from UCSI University (will be provided by the institution)
  • Certified copy of SPM and STPM / Levels / UEC / SAM / AUSMAT / CPU / CIMP / UCSI University Foundation / Local Matriculation / Recognised Diploma's results
  • A photocopy of the first page of applicant's bank account passbook. If the account passbook is not available, please provide account statement from the bank (CIMB Bank only).
  • Parent's Borang B / Pay Slip (2 months)
  • Skim Simpanan Pendidikan Nasional (SSPN) MUST be enclosed with either one of SSPN account opening proof (SSPN’s membership card copy / SSPN's account statement / SSPN’s deposit slip / printed SSPN account statement from the PTPTN website)
* In the case of parents who do not have a Borang J / Borang B / Pay Slip, please fill up form PTPTN (PP) 1/99 Pin. 1 (this form is attached with the application form). All photocopied documents and PTPTN Declaration form can only be certified & witnessed by:
  • Pengetua / Guru Besar Sekolah (Sekolah Kerajaan Sahaja)
  • Penghulu/ Penggawa/ Tuai Rumah/ Ketua Kaum/ Mukim Bertauliah
  • Pegawai Kerajaan Kumpulan Pengurusan dan Professional (dahulunya Kumpulan A)
  • Pengamal Undang-undang/ Pesuruhjaya Sumpah
  • Jaksa Pendamai/ Ahli Majlis Mesyuarat Kerajaan Negeri (Ahli EXCO)


Loan Amount

The amount approved is based on parent's / guardian’s monthly income. Loan amount to be allocated to each applicant is subject to PTPTN’s approval as listed below:

Submission of Applications

As required by PTPTN, all applications must be submitted via UCSI University. Please submit all applications to Ms. Fatmawati at +603 - 9101 8880 ext 3200 or email fatmawati@ucsi.edu.my (Marketing Department) for verification.

Dates for submission of application to UCSI University:
  • 05 - 15 February
  • 05 - 15 May
  • 05 - 15 July
  • 05 - 15 November
Late applications will NOT be entertained


Processing

All loan applications shall be forwarded by UCSI University to PTPTN for processing on the following dates:
  • 28 February 2008
  • 31 May
  • 31 July
  • 30 November
The processing of loan applications normally takes between 2-3 months. Disbursement of loan occurs in the month of January and May each year. Students are advised to be prepared to cover their own tuition fees till PTPTN disburse the loan.


Academic Performance

PTPTN will stop disbursement under the following circumstances:
  • Deferment of studies
  • Failure to complete studies within the designated time frame
  • Student’s Grade Point Average (GPA) is lower than 2.0 (50%). Before disbursement of the loan, PTPTN will request the University to provide student’s results at the end of each semester. Please take note that PTPTN has the right to discontinue disbursement of the loan if the student’s academic performance deteriorates. Please see the example below:

Please note that for those semesters which PTPTN has stopped payment, the payment will not be backdated.


Loan Repayment

PTPTN loans are subject to a 3% service fee per year charged on the outstanding loan amount. Repayment of the loan starts 6 months after graduation or as soon as students have found employment (whichever is earlier). Usually the repayment period for a Science graduates is 240 months (20 years), for an Arts graduates is 180 months (15 years) and for a diploma graduates 120 months (10 years). The repayment can be made to Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (LHDN) by deduction from salary through the employer.
