B. A (Hons) in Mass Communication

This degree programme offers students the in-depth understanding of the dynamics of mass communication in today’s information-dependent society. It synthesizes theories, research, practice and critical issues in order to develop and instill within the students the potential to achieve performance and leadership in mass communication.

Students will experience a balanced emphasis on academic knowledge and practical skills, with the opportunity to understand how the media operates within a wide spectrum of changing social, economic and political contexts of modern society.

Their exposure will also include skills for critical thinking and research methods as well as vital current issues such as globalisation and its worldwide impact upon media communications. Students will also be required to complete a Project and undergo Co-Operative Placement as part of the programme’s requirements.

Minimum Entry Qualifications for Foundation Programme
SPM / O - Levels or equivalent 5 Credits
UEC 3 Credits
English Language Requirements

A distinction (A1 or A2) in SPM / UEC English, MUET Band 5, or a score of 213 (Computer based) / 550 (Written based) in TOEFL, or Band 5.5 in IELTS, or UCSI English Foundation or equivalent. If English Language requirements are not fulfilled, additional English module(s) must be taken at UCSI.

MoHE Compulsory Subjects
Bahasa Kebangsaan, Malaysian Studies, Moral Studies or Islamic Studies

The career pathways for a Mass Communication graduate is endless and they may venture into fields such as video production, desktop publishing, journalism, public relations, advertising, marketing, broadcasting, theatrical productions, entertainment production, event management, among many others.
