Foundation in Music

UCSI’s Foundation in Music is specifically tailored and designed to prepare post-SPM students for UCSI’s degrees in Classical and Contemporary Music. The three semesters foundation programme includes music core subjects as well as general electives for students to choose from. Successful completion of the foundation programme will satisfy all entry requirements and allow for direct entry to the music degree programme outlined here.
Minimum Entry Qualifications

Academic Requirements : SPM or equivalent 5 Credits
Music Requirements Practical : Grade 3 and theory : Grade 3 or equivalent
Audition Requirements *
Play 3 pieces of contrasting styles
Sight-reading
Aural Placement Test
Theory Placement Test
* Students who have exceeded level required will be given exemption of the lower level of music courses in the Foundation programme.
English Language Requirements

A distinction (A1 or A2) in SPM / UEC English, MUET Band 5, or a score of 213 (Computer based) / 550 (Written based) in TOEFL, or Band 5.5 in IELTS, or UCSI English Foundation or equivalent. If English Language requirements are not fulfilled, additional English module(s) must be taken at UCSI.
