Bachelor of Music (Hons.) Contemporary

The Bachelor of Music (Hons) Contemporary caters to the needs of those students who want a career in the popular music industry. By covering the key areas of Arranging, Technology, Performance, Recording and Music Business (but not neglecting other related studies such as contemporary music theory, ear training and composition), the programme will enable its graduates to pursue challenging and rewarding careers within the industry.


Minimum Entry Qualifications

Academic Requirements : A-Levels / STPM 2 Principals
Music Requirements Practical : Grade 5 and theory : Grade 5 or equivalent
Audition Requirements
Play 3 pieces of contrasting styles
Improvisation
Sight-reading
Aural Placement Test
Theory Placement Test
* Students who do not meet the expected level will be required to take up suitable courses drawn from the Foundation in Music programme.
English Language Requirements

A distinction (A1 or A2) in SPM / UEC English, MUET Band 5, or a score of 213 (Computer based) / 550 (Written based) in TOEFL, or Band 5.5 in IELTS, or UCSI English Foundation or equivalent. If English Language requirements are not fulfilled, additional English module(s) must be taken at UCSI.
