B. Eng. (Hons.) Mechatronic Engineering

Approval Code: (KA 6204; 11/10)

UCSI Mechatronic Engineering programme at the School of Engineering is a modern engineering field that integrates various components of different engineering disciplines. This came in as an effort to meet the increasing demands of complex and sophisticated industries.

The programme encompasses three major engineering fields and is designed with a well-balanced focus in the field of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Robotics & Automation Engineering.

Students are also required to undergo an industrial training under Co-operative Placement Scheme in the third semester of each year to learn and to familiarize themselves with the real life working environment. In addition, students also undertake a research and development project in their final year.

Career Opportunities

Generally, Mechatronic Engineers find their places in industries wherever there is a potential for improvement through the integration of computer, electrical hardware and mechanical systems. As they possess the skills of Electrical, Mechanical and Robotic Engineers, this gives them the opportunity and the priority to lead and work in the following industrial fields: Automotive Industries, Consumer Electronics, Biomedical Industries, Robotics and Automation Industries.

From the of Education and Research perspective , Mechatronic Engineering has become a popular field of study. Some active research topics in this area are: Actuators & Sensors, Control of Mechatronic Systems, Machine Intelligence, Embedded Computing and Software Engineering. Since the launch of the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC), many of our graduates have also successfully ventured into the fields of communication, fibre optics, networking and software engineering specialists.
