Interior Architecture explores the link between interior and architecture where interior spaces are inhabited and experienced as works of art that are rich in spatial investigations and interventions. The programme embarks on a revitalisation and enrichment journey through the development of design, conceptual creativity, theory and philosophy of spaces to create exciting and practical environments in which people live, work and play.
The Bachelor of Arts Honours in Interior Architecture course, offered by School of Architecture, Management and Surveying, is a 3-year full time 8-9 semester long degree programme which emphasises on critical thinking, conceptual creativity, design development, design theory and culture, construction technology and environmental science. The course is designed to develop individuals with knowledge, ability and incisiveness to conceptualise and produce designed experiential spaces; with considerations of function, culture, environment, technology and materiality.

The Interior Architecture programme offered is supported by specialist modules in ergonomics & design, technology & services, communication methods and media, computer aided deign, professional practice, project research and planning which aims to enable students to successfully integrate the theoretical aspects and practical implementation of Interior Architecture. The Subject Studies modules are thought through integrated projects, furniture workshop, computer lab, site visits and professional practice throughout the duration of the course. The program also emphasises on the latest industry input for each graduate. Students are required to undergo Professional Internship programme under Co-operative Placement Scheme with minimum duration of 10-14 weeks, to learn and familiarize themselves with the working environment of the building and construction industry. |

A distinction (A1 or A2) in SPM / UEC English, MUET Band 5, or a score of 213 (Computer based) / 550 (Written based)
in TOEFL, or Band 5.5 in IELTS, or UCSI English Foundation or equivalent. If English Language requirements are not
fulfilled, additional English module(s) must be taken at UCSI.

The Interior Architecture programme develops both academic understanding and practical skills required for careers in the professional field. Graduates will be able to gain professional working experience in an Architectural Firm, Interior Architectural Firm, Developer Firm, Construction Firm, Supplier Firm, Manufacturer Firm, Film and Television Organisation and Educational Institution.
Graduates are equipped for careers in the broad field of design in the built environment. Scope of work varies from an Interior Architect/Designer, Design Consultant, Project Executive, Site Supervisor, Technical Assistant, Design Research Assistant, Draftsperson, Free lance Designer, to an Academic Tutor. Graduates may also venture into other fields of expertise, such as Furniture Design, Lighting Design, Theme Park Design, Retail Design, Commercial Design, Hospitality Design, Healthcare Design, Corporate Office Design, Stage Design, Exhibit Design, Film & Television Set Design, Environmental Design, Museum Design, Residential Design, Graphic Design, 3-D Visualiser and Industry Resource-Supplier.
Opportunities also exist in the support areas, including marketing, promotion, facility management and development. Many large organisations, such as departmental stores hotels, resorts and developer, also employ interior architects. Following experience with larger firms, graduates may start their own consulting business.
The career opportunities in this field has a good record of graduate employment. Upon completion of the Bachelor of Arts Honours in Interior Architecture graduates may also continue on to do their Masters Degree (coming soon) on various field of interest such as Interior Architecture, Project Management, Sequential Illustration, Facilities Management, Building Construction, Concept & Entertainment Design, Multimedia and Digital Arts, Theory and History of Art and Design to name a few. A proportion of graduates moving on to Masters degree programme leading to professional qualification in the profession to further develop their design abilities, knowledge and research interest and skills.
