Kuala Lumpur, 29 September 2009 -
Yang Berhormat Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Bin Nordin presented certificates
and scholarships to 426 of UCSI University’s best students during
the University’s annual Hari Anugerah Bestari awards totaling
close to RM3 million. The annual event is organised to honour students
whose achievements at the University have indicated a sustained
level of excellence in academics, sports and extra-curricular activities.
Also present during the event was UCSI University Chancellor, Tan
Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Abdul Rahman Arshad and UCSI University
President, Peter T. S. Ng.
Among those
who received scholarships and certificates of excellence were Tiew
Kee Yee who is wheelchair-bound. He receives the Tan Sri Ahmad Razali
scholarship, which the University offers to deserving students who
demonstrate outstanding academic achievements and participate in
extra-curricular activities as well. These are full scholarships
to finance the entire duration of their studies at the University.

| During his speech, YB Dato’ Seri
Mohamed Khaled, congratulated UCSI University as a model institution
of higher learning for actively maintaining its search for excellence
amongst the nation’s best and brightest minds. “By taking great
lengths to search for, and give due honour to your own best students,
it not only provides a great motivation for them to keep striving
for higher achievements, but also contributes towards the government’s
overall grand design to produce highly competent graduates who will
power Malaysia to meet the challenges of a highly competitive and
knowledge-based 21st century economy.” |

He also said that Malaysia needs universities like UCSI University
to nurture the nation’s best brains in order to realise the national
objective of making Malaysia a “Regional Centre for Educational
Excellence.”
The Minister of Higher Education presented some of UCSI University’s
most coveted scholarships and awards to the University’s best students.
These included the President’s Award, the Overall Achievement Award,
the Dr. Rosli Mailam Scholarship in addition and the Tan Sri Ahmad
Razali scholarship.
