The International Guest Lecture Series was exciting in terms of the spectra of perspectives it generated. UCSI's International University Placement Centre (IUPC) held one of its Guest Lecture series on June 23, 2008 amidst a splash of animated cartoon movies hitting the cinemas. Animated films such as Kungfu Panda was a hot item for cinemagoers while movies such as Shrek, Shrek II, Ice age, Ice age 2: The Meltdown , Beauty and the Beast, Pocahontas and Mulan were some of the most memorable animated movies in recent times. Furthermore, animation in the form of computer games and digital games is hugely popular and generates huge profits worldwide. A bright future awaits those in the animation and creative arts industry. As such, the music industry and related spin-offs benefit from this evolving trend. With this in mind, the lecture series was a much anticipated event. And true enough, it turned out to be a complete success in terms of content and presentation . Mr. Solomon Rogers
One of the main speakers was Mr. Solomon Rogers from the University Of Hertfordshire. He is the visual effects course leader and senior lecturer for the BA Digital Animation Programme at Hertfordshire. Rogers himself exuded a confident and amicable disposition during his presentation. He talked about the current global demand for talent in the creative arts industry, especially in the anime segment.Rogers went on to explain the various software used at the University of Hertfordshire, and of course requisites, which includes among others, the ability to draw well on top of talent, creativeness and innovative ideation. Other requisites were the mundane discipline and commitment to details. His lecture gave an overview of design principles needed in any large project. He used specific examples from across many arts and design subjects, from graphic design to CG Animated short films. He explained how these basic principles are applied throughout an animated project. Rogers displayed several examples of his students' work via a power point presentation and was excited that most of them were successful in their fields. Many were snapped up by the industry right after graduation. A Malaysian student of Rogers was one of the lucky ones. A Brief Profile of Mr. Solomon Rogers : From the

An example of his student's work at the University of Hertforshire that incorporated animation and sound engineering. It illustrated the creative work progression and process. Similar work in the same vein may be found in UCSI at the School of Creative Arts.
