The establishment of the UCSI University Alumni Association in Bangladesh marks 13 years of collaborations since UCSI University and Perdana College started working and investing in educating youths in both Malaysia and Bangladesh. The Alumni Association is expected to be a catalyst to forge closer co-operation between Malaysia and Bangladesh and greater prosperity for the region. In Mr. Nurul’s speech, he acknowledged UCSI University’s role in fostering good bilateral relations between the two countries which are based on a common religion and strong economic and educational relations as exemplified by Bangladeshi students attending UCSI University.

He also recognized UCSI University’s creative modes in educating students. “UCSI University promotes and markets its graduates via graduate profiles, Alumni associations and internship initiatives “online”, which have been proven to be effective and should be emulated, adapted and adopted.” The Minister went on to congratulate the University for online initiatives such as the online industry placement website, My Co-Op and MyAlumni websites which serve to link former UCSI University students with the latest news and activities on campus.

Mr. Jamaludin Sabeh spoke on how Malaysia’s Vision parallels that of Bangladesh. “Malaysia’s Vision 2020, put in motion by former Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad in 1991, mirrors Bangladesh’s Digital Bangladesh which sets 2021 as its target year. I believe that Perdana College and UCSI University’s joint efforts speak volumes of their belief regarding Digital Bangladesh:2021.

UCSI University hopes to set up an even stronger alumni network with the launch of this alumni association chapter in Bangladesh. The establishment of the UCSI University’s Alumni Association - Bangladash chapter will also pave the way for other similar chapters to be established in other countries. According to UCSI University President, Peter T. S. Ng, members, past and present can maintain and foster closer ties with each other through this alumni association. “It is in this spirit of sharing and learning from each other that the University sees the importance of setting up this alumni association, and work together to build a global network of alumni who will become sources of reference for students embarking on the UCSI University experience.”
