This edition of eNews is special because it is the last
one that will carry my message as Chief Editor. After 34
years of gainful employment at other institutions and finally
at UCSI University, I have decided that it is finally time
for me to retire to enjoy a quiet private life, spend more
time with my family and indulge in other interests that
I have always dreamed of, but was not able to do before,
during my career.
Working at UCSI University over the last 6 years has been
a very exciting and memorable experience for me. I gained
a lot of knowledge, made friends with so many wonderful
people, and did so many exciting things in the course of
my duty. In the short span of 6 years, I have watched UCSI
University’s grow by leaps and bounds, from strength to
strength, and feel very fortunate to have been a part of
that growth. I hope I have, in some little ways, contributed
towards that growth, too.
The winds of change are blowing at UCSI University, the
one that fills the sails and moves us towards vast oceans
of opportunities. Our feature for this month’s issue certainly
says it all. A transition from one life to another is significant,
at any stage in one’s life. In
My Take, our first
year Foundation student Leanne reflects on the changes in
her life from being a high school student to a University
student now. In my case, retirement is a blessing which
opens new windows of opportunities for my journey of self-actualisation,
especially since it coincides with the upcoming school holidays,
and Balqis Zahua’s article about her holiday experiences
certainly stirs my imagination about the “holidays” I promised
myself.
UCSI University has touched my life in so many unforgettable
ways. Henceforth, wherever I go, and whatever I do, its
spirit will forever live within me. THANK YOU for the valuable
experiences and precious memories. I hope the e-News has
shared with you the same.
