The School
of Architecture and Built Environment (SABE) presented certificates
to students who represented the School and UCSI University
in events, competitions and exhibitions held in 2009. This
Event was the platform used to address the students together
in appreciation of all their past contributions.
The Event which was organized by the School and held in
the BOS Hall in the North Wing gathered students from every
semester from both the Architecture and Interior courses.
Dr.Jimmy Mok, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture
and Built Environment gave a warm welcoming speech and addressed
students on the importance of co-curricular activities.
Subsequently, the Associate Dean of the School of Architecture
and Built Environment, Encik Mohammad Zani Mohammad Zain,
gave a short lecture on students’ responsibilities to themselves,
the School and the University.
The students were also reminded of important key points
in the Student Handbook by Puan Zaiton Mokhtar Shah who
got students’ full participation when she conducted the
segment and gave away tokens to those who successfully answered
her questions.
The students were also treated to videos to introduce the
SABE staff, the events, competitions and exhibitions they
had conducted in the previous years, as well as their future
events for this year.
In his inaugural speech to the School, the new President
for the Architecture and Interior Student Society (AIS),
Daniel Ng Shi Jun, spoke words of encouragement on the new
and improved student society, and his commitment to create
various outlets for students to showcase their talents to
contribute to the School and the University.
Highlight of the Event was the certificates award by the
Dean, Dr.Jimmy Mok and Associate Dean, Mohammad Zani to
students for their participation in The Hilton Christmas
Train Project in PJ Hilton, the PAM Architectural Workshop
2009 held by UiTM, the Floria Putarajaya, The Horse Sculpture
Competition organized by Royal Selangor, the PAM Architectural
Student Work Exhibition in One Utama and the Interior Design
Student Saturday - MSID 14 held in Saito College.
One student from the Foundation Course, the Degree in Architecture
and Degree in Interior Architecture were each presented
with the Outstanding Student Certificate. Daniel Ng Shi
Jun, Joe Tan Chien Hong and Yap Kim Yeang received certificates
for their contributions in both education and co-curricular,
as well as for their tenacity and enthusiasm to compete
and serve others.
The day ended with all the students being treated to High
Tea in the Dining Hall. Thus, the Event concluded with the
organisers having successfully stimulated students’ interests
to participate in future activities, competitions and exhibitions
held throughout the year.
