The year 2009 has come to an end, and a new year beckons us, full of promises of good things, and great tidings on a fresh slate. As is the norm at this time of the year, many of us reflect on the things that we have or have not done this past year. There may have been things that we have regretted, while we remember the good times we’ve had and goals that we reached.

Staff and students at UCSI University are no different. Read their aspirations and goals for the New Year in the My Take section. Perhaps your own is among them. UCSI University’s President, Peter T. S. Ng also has a few words to say about the New Year. Read his message, as well as his greetings for the Christmas season in the Feature section.

In News From Abroad, e-News interviews Dr. Douglas Ruth, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Manitoba, one of UCSI University’s partner universities. Read all about his plans for research of both Universities.

Also in this issue of the e-News is a debut article by Mass Communications student, Yogeetha Jeevan, the Project Manager for UCSI Frontiers, UCSI University’s very own online newspaper run by journalism students. We can expect great things from these aspiring journalists.

Babies and cats have something in common. They are both adorable, and very much dear to our hearts. Balqis Zahua writes about her dear friends, the cat named Junior, Dino and Cik Tom while our lecturer from the School of Nursing, Ms. Than Soo Nyet writes about a deficiency that is common among newborns in Health Bites.

Before we conclude the last e-News issue for the year, let me take this opportunity to wish all staff and students of UCSI University a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year! Let us meet each other again in January 2010, with renewed zest and excitement for the challenging months ahead.

Prof. Dr. Norfadzillah bt. Hitam.
Vice President, Corporate Affairs.
