Christmas and New Year Message

As we come to the close of another year, let us reflect on some of the accomplishments and challenges of the past year, and the possibilities for 2010 and beyond.

We have grown in terms of course offerings, with 60 different programmes at our 3 campuses with a record 16 new programmes being added this year alone. Three additional faculties being added as well, namely the Faculty of Industrial Business, Faculty of Hospitality and Management as well as the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. In the coming year, more faculties will be added, more new programmes introduced, many of which will also be at the postgraduate level.

In terms of physical advancement, we have seen many changes as well. Starting at the Kuala Lumpur Campus, the library has been remodeled and more resources being added on top of the numerous online programme-specific journals and references. The campus’s South Wing cafeteria has also been renovated and by the start of 2010, all the computer laboratories would have been fully up-graded and their services enhanced with additional bandwidth for faster communication. More student spaces have also been added to provide a more conducive and comfortable learning environment before, during and after classes.

At the Sarawak Campus, fully-equipped laboratories, library, discussion rooms, state-of-the-art conference room and computer laboratories are all fully-operational. A mock hotel room and kitchen have been added to simulate actual hotel conditions. While the Terengganu campus has a spanking new reception and work areas; covered walkways are also planned and work will commence soon.

All these accomplishments in terms of physical and services, both internally and externally, would not have been possible without the teamwork that underscores all three campuses. It is with this spirit of Unwavering Commitment to Serve Intentionally that differentiates us and makes us uniquely UCSI University.

In the same spirit of hope and peace for the season, I would like to wish a Blessed Christmas to all Christians and to all staff and students, a wonderful new year filled with blue oceans.

President Peter T. S. Ng.
