A very happy Deepavali to all Hindu colleagues and students of UCSI University! We hope that the festivities have provided a short respite for both staff and students during this examinations season.

In this issue of e-News, we address the topic of mental illness. Our minds are just as complex and fragile as our body, and needs to be taken care of and periodically receive a check-up as well. Our students from the peer counseling group and Psychology Club, together with the Malaysian Mental Health Association, recently organised a host of activities in conjunction with the University’s Mental Health Week. The annual event attracted a lot of students who wanted to challenge their minds with the tests and activities offered. Check out the article in Building Communities. Our Health Bites section this month also addresses the issue of mental health, Nursing lecturer, Mr. Arnel Banaga Saldago providing crucial information on how to spot our friends who are depressed.

Balqis Zahua returns with an article about the benefits of hugging and physical display of affection. Read all about it in her column. Our Feature story for this month is about students from the School of Architecture and the awards they received from this year’s Architectural Student Workshop. Also read all about a former UCSI University student who is now in Australia completing her final year of studies there. Find out all about how lecturers and friends here at UCSIU have helped her achieve her dreams to travel and study overseas.

Happy reading!
