For the first time, UCSI University Together With California Baptist University organized a basketball clinic for the benefit of our students and our official basketball team. It was led by the student group from CBU comprising of nine members from CBU led by group leader, Lee Mcfee and team captain, John Walker. There was evidence of cultural exchanges between our multi-diversed campus students who came from around the world, and their game counterparts from America. It allowed the American team to experience Malaysian-type hospitality at the hands of our UCSI U students. However, we found out that two of the UBU students, John Walker and Cesar Menjivar, were no strangers to Malaysia as they had been to Malaysia back in 2007 running basketball clinics among our schools.

At the beginning of the session, CBU students, Cesar Menjivar, Jamie Carper, Jeffrey Stovall, Kyle Sternjacob, Melissa Short, Sam Gonzalez, Crystal Magana and John Walker led the clinic on multiple drills regarding handwork, lay-ups, throws, jumps, teamwork. This clinic lasted for 1.5 hours at our multi purpose hall with most of our students enjoying the session.

Eight o’clock was the time we were all waiting for.  It was the friendly match between our UCSI basketball team and the CBU team. Both teams were very much into the game, displaying the skills they had learnt earlier on during the clinic.

Initially, UCSI played very well, with our enthusiastic players leading the game and CBU trailing very closely on the scoreboard.  However, when the game ended around 9.45 pm, the scoreboard read 72 (UCSIU) to 80 (CBU).

Since the game was not a real competitive game, there were no winners or losers. The game had been played more for the joy of it and the cultural exchange it afforded between the two campus and the worlds they each represented. The game was played more in the spirit of the game that was basketball.
