Earth Hour 2010
Disagree

Though most high school dreams never
transpose into nothing more than a
glimmer in the dark, two boys made sure
that their thoughts would not be forever
lost in that ever so popular idea of
‘what if..’. As so, 1995 saw the birth
of what would later become the band
Disagree. Originating with lead singer
and guitarist, Zahid, the drummer, Hamka,
and later joined by bassist, Aziz, and
former second guitarist, Ashroff,
Disagree released their first album At
the End of the Day in 2004. With hits
such as ‘Crumbs’, ‘Scarecrow Adam’, and
‘Suicide Note’, Disagree was able to
sell 12,000 copies of their debut album;
an accomplishment which substantiated
their high recognition in the Malaysian
English music scene. As well as that,
their achievements range from being
given the “Most Airplay” Award during
the Hitz.fm’s 8th Birthday Bash in 2005,
being the fastest album at all three
Tower Records outlets and peaking at No.
1 on the Tower Charts, to having three
nominations in the 2005 Anugerah
Industri Muzik 12, (Best Music Video,
Best New English Artiste, Best New
Album) and winning the Best New English
Artiste Award in the latter. After
several years of promotion and touring,
Disagree had a craving to create music
which would have a new and different
direction. With the departure of Ashroff
and the addition of David, Disagree’s
new line up finally settled into
recording their second album in 2006.
After three years of recording,
revising, and perfecting, Disagree’s
sophomore album, To Prevent the Earth
from Moving with You, is now finalized
and is set to be released in the end of
June 2009. Under the Fat Boys Label and
their producer, Jason Lo, Disagree has
been able to find a sound that is said
to be more mature and intensely melodic.
With their direction embodying the
energy of Alternative Rock, Disagree has
made a sound that is straightforward and
yet seemingly radio friendly. Their
first single off the album, ‘Osaka’, and
their other songs such as ‘Haley’ and
‘The Tiniest Moment’ will in capture the
new direction of Disagree and their
sound for this new age. With their main
distributor, Sony Music Entertainment
Malaysia Sdn Bhd, and their sponsors,
Extreme/Zero Hour clothing and Macbeth
shoes, supporting Disagree, the highly
anticipated second album will not be shy
in fulfilling the public’s expectations.
An Honest Mistake

An Honest Mistake, consisting of 6
talented musicians, is one of Malaysia's
latest sensations to hit the music
scene. The dynamic rock band writes and
produces their own music, already
generating hit songs like 'This Song Is
So Random, I Don't Know Why' and 'The
Snake With Limbs'. Fusing metal and
hardcore with poppy choruses to make
them unique; the band is definitely
something to look out for!
In 2009, An Honest Mistake rocked the
house down at many popular venues such
as Laundry Bar, Urbanattic and The
Library with their electrifying
performances. They have also played
prestigious stages such as the Selangor
Music Festival and Rock The World 9. An
Honest Mistake is also one of the
nominees for 'Best College Act' and
'Best Sunshiny-Feelgood-Song' in the
2010 VIMA Awards.

Halfway Kings make intense music with
minimal fuss. Adeline sings in low keys
and in disturbing manners. Joachim’s
mother tells him he’s special….and he
is. He plays the acoustic guitar. Nally
Woo needs to be referred to with her
surname because she is just too fabulous
a back-up singer for anything less.
Together, the Kingsters will make you
rethink your thoughts about acoustic
sessions as being boring. Joachim’s
guitar is normally out-of-tune by the
end of each set. You have been
forewarned.
EVE

(website:

Being a songwriter,
Eve's main influences derive from bands
of different genres like Flyleaf, Story
Of The Year, Saosin, Paramore and many
more which has helped to mature her
writing. Yet, guided by her own
spiritual beliefs, she takes listeners
from plain negativity into a field of
positivism. She hopes to deliver
messages of hope and love, like igniting
a candle in the midst of darkness;
uplifting with spirit-filled lyrics. The
band helps to provide a wide array of
brooding beats and atmospheric riffs
that compliments to Eve's vocal range
from breathy to aggressive, emphasizing
the authenticity of the emotions she
intends to portray. The band members
include front-woman, Eve on vocals,
David on the drums, Joshua as the
bassist, Terry as the lead guitarist and
Lam as the rhythm guitarist.
