Kuala Lumpur, 07 November 2009
- The Child Development Centre (CDC) of UCSI held its
first annual concert at Blue Ocean Strategy (BOS) Hall,
located in the north wing of the UCSI University’s Kuala
Lumpur Campus. The 90-minute concert showcased the talents
of students as young as age 2 to 6 years old.
According to the guest of honour, Group President Peter
T.S. Ng of the UCSI Group, “It has always been my dream
and mission to provide early childhood education and
the establishment of CDC aims to nurture young children’s
future by providing them with good early development.”
The UCSI Child Development Centre was set up in 2008
and offers a haven for pre-school children to explore
and develop their interests and talents. The CDC has
local and international students enrolled in their classes.
During the concert, the UCSI-CDC choir won the hearts
of the audience with their rendition of three songs,
“Good Morning”, “Rasa Sayang” and a Chinese song titled
“Welcome”.
Proud smiles lit up the faces of parents and teachers
as a group of two and three-year-old students did the
charming “Chicken Dance”.
Rana Mariyam Sajid from the Pre 2 Class showed her budding
talent as a story-teller by telling her version of the
“Little Red Riding Hood” fairytale. Her performance
was well received by the audience.
“Daddy Cool” - performed by the Pre 1 Class of four-year-olds
- was another dance that brought thunderous applause
from the audience. The five-year-old students from the
Pre 2 Class sang their hearts out in their presentation
of the Indian song, “Dailamo”.
The concert also saw the presentation of awards to students
who participated in colouring and writing competitions
previously. The prizes were presented by Group President
Peter Ng and Dr Jimmy Mok, director of UCSI-CDC.
The concert came to a fitting finale with everyone,
including the audience, sportingly doing the “Hokey
Pokey” dance.
